Hair Loss Myth

You do not have to believe your friends and family when they tell you that beanies are going to make your head look shiny and glistening when you reach your late thirties. This persistent health myth probably came from the public’s confusion with cause and effect. Since most men resort to wearing caps as a way of hiding their baldness, this has led many people to believe that caps are the cause of this health problem, when in truth it is the reverse which is true.

Indeed, it has long been revealed that the common forms of hair loss are determined by the person’s genetic code. Thus, if it will happen, it sure will. The most you can do is to slow it down. There is, however, nothing much you can do to avoid it. Conversely, if you do not have this gene, then there is nothing you can do to make it happen, not even wearing a hat. It is worth noting though that this genetic code can come from either side of the family. However, if your father, uncle, and grandfather are bald, getting too attached to a specific hairstyle might not be a very good idea.

Nonetheless, although there is no real connection between baldness and wearing a hat regularly, there could be some significant drawbacks to one’s health, especially wearing one when sweating or while doing physical activities like manual labour or sports. Without proper air circulation, this habit could damage the scalp since sweat would clog up the pores and slow down or stop the growth of hair. So you might as well put on some sunscreen and save your beanie for the cold seasons.
